I’m so thrilled to be back on The Qwillery, celebrating two exciting events. First of all, the next book in the Sweetblood series, TEMPTED BY BLOOD, came out in print yesterday and comes out in digital format March 1.
But before I tell you the second reason I’m here, let me give you a little background about the third book in the series so it makes more sense.
Set deep within the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the battle for supremacy rages on between two vampire coalitions: Guardian enforcers sworn to protect humans, and Darkbloods, rogues who sell Sweet on the vampire black market. Sweetbloods are humans whose blood is very rare and highly addictive to vampires.
The heroine, Arianna Wells, is a human, but she’s not a sweetblood. However, her cousin who lives with her is a sweetblood and, as Arianna finds out later, so was her mother.
When Arianna was five years old, she witnessed shadows coming alive and taking her mother away. Most humans are unable to see vampires when they’re in their shadow form, so no one believed her, but Arianna knew what she saw.
Although she works for a software company now (the same one from EMBRACED BY BLOOD), her passion is her secret blog, which explores the unexplained and unusual, giving a voice to people like her—people who aren’t believed. If her security-conscious employer finds out she lied about having a blog, she could get fired, so she keeps her identity a secret. Those in the blogging community only know her by her screen name, Icy Shadows.
When she witnesses her cousin being taken by men who appeared from the shadows and another man (the hero, Jackson Foss) steps from the shadows to save her, Arianna realizes that what she saw all those years ago was real and that it was happening all over again. She takes some pictures, posting them to her blog the next day, and that’s when the $#!% hits the fan.
Which leads me to the second reason I’m here on The Qwillery. I’m launching Arianna’s blog Paranormalish (www.Paranormalish.blogspot.com) and I would love to have readers participate. Come read a few real and creepy stories that people have contributed already.
If you’ve ever experienced something bizarre, something unexplained, Icy Shadows would love to hear from you. Check out the guidelines on the blog and send your story to Paranormalish@gmail.com.
Not only will real reader stories be featured (I, Laurie, have a few really bizarre things that have happened to me and I’ll be sharing them at some point), but also, if you’re a writer and want to try your hand at some fun writing prompts, Arianna—I mean, Icy Shadows will be hosting fun fan-fiction-type contests. So stay tuned for those.
Thanks, Qwill (See? I didn’t use her real name in case she’s hiding her identity too.), for having me on today and for helping me launch TEMPTED BY BLOOD and Paranormalish.

Hi!
ReplyDeleteWell, one of my favorite TV show was Supernatural. Angels, ghosts, vampires and Jensen Anckles... Probably he was the main reason I loved this show so much :] But I also like the Underworld movies - they're a little bit too bloody, but if it doesn't bother you and you like hot vampires in action-packed movies, then it's THE movie for you :]
Thank you for the chance to win! I've already read all of your books, Laurie, and I LOVED them! Can't wait to finally read Jackson's story.

Let me just start by saying I haven't read this series but am putting it on my TBR list, it sounds like a great read and right up my alley!! As for the question, there are entirely too many TV shows and movies that I love to watch in this area!! I love Ghost Hunters, Supernatural, Charmed, Ghost Whisperer, Ghost Ship, Poltergeist, and many more that I can't think of right now!! :) Thanks for the chance to win and I look forward to reading this series!!
ReplyDeleteForgot my e-mail, sorry about that!! :) sasharyave@sbcglobal.net
DeleteI'm really enjoying GRIM. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it but the stories are interesting and for a TV show the monsters are pretty good.
ReplyDeleteI have a question about vampire teeth. It's always stated that the "huge fangs descend" which makes no sense to me since veins/arteries have rather small diameters. Have you ever thought about that or am I just strange? Thanks for your opinion :).
Thank you for the giveaway.
vsloboda(at)gmail(dot)com
Hi Victoria, I hadn't really thought about that element in particular. I love the various mythos surrounding vampire stories. The reason the vampires in the Sweetblood series have fangs that elongate (rather than always being there) is because they live among humans. They wouldn't be able to blend in otherwise. Thanks for the great question!
DeleteOh my - there are a lot of paranormal-related shows that I have enjoy and do enjoy. I used to enjoy Buffy, Angel, Ghost Whisperer, and Charmed. And I still do thanks to Netflix. ) Newer shows include Grimm and The Walking Dead. TWD classifies, yes? Maybe not exactly, but it does for me. I also watch Ghost Hunters and a few shows similar, though it is infrequent, so I am not sure of the names. Actually, in some circles, we could possibly classify Once Upon a Time as paranormal, so I will add that. Yeah, it's a thin relation, but it works out in my mind. :) Thanks so much for the chance to win. And I will definitely be checking our Paranormalish! Sounds exciting!

How about Nightmare Theater that was on at midnight? Do you remember that one? That's where I got hooked on those old black and white vampire movies.
DeleteI am obsessed with The Vampire Diaries. I was a big fan of the books and I love the way the television is done. Plus, you gotta love all the sexy man candy they've casted.

DeleteI love True Blood and Supernatural. I am very addicted to both shows. I also love Ghosthunters. I love reading paranormal, more than watching. This is a new author for me and would love to win and read this book. I am always looking for new books and authors to check out.
