Wednesday Comics on Thursday - October 21, 2010

I picked up a lot of wonderful comics yesterday. Here are my favorites:

IDW Publishing:

True Blood, #4 of 6

This issue tells the story of Sam’s attack on the evil spirit that proves deadly for the local population, and it ends with him having to recount his most shameful memory... a secret powerful enough to re-energize the wounded spirit. Outside, Andy and the Sheriff have discovered the dome keeping them all trapped inside Merlotte’s, but will they be able to break in before Jason recounts the dirty details his first time? The stormy night in Bon Temps continues, in this original idea by TRUE BLOOD creator Alan Ball. IDW Publishing

The Last Unicorn, #5 of 6

The Lady Amalthea is more than she appears when she arrives on the doorstep of King Haggard’s castle with Molly Grue and Schmendrick the magician in tow. What lies behind those haunted, ancient eyes? Will she forget what she truly is and what she came to find? But maybe most important, will she be able to face the most terrible foe yet: human love? IDW Publishing

Vincent Price Presents 21

This one shot featuring Vincent Price tells another gothic adventure! Assignments on frontier planets always irritated intergalactic mob hitman Randall Stiles and his partner Jake Mackey and this mission would soon prove why. What starts out as a seemingly routine pick-up turns quite deadly in this Sci-Fi tale from Vincent Price who takes the reader on an unexpected ride to the outer edge of the known Universe.Bluewater on eBay

Vincent Price Presents 22:

This one shot featuring Vincent Price tells another gothic adventure! The great Roman Philosopher and Statesman Marcus Tullius Cicero once wrote: “I remember the very things I do not wish to; I cannot forget the Things I wish to forget.” This brand new tale of science taken to the extremes might make Cicero change his mind as Vincent Price invite us to consider how accountable we are for how well we remember our own past? Richard Matheson's Kolchak: The Night Strangler, Cover C

Legendary author Richard Matheson (I am Legend, What Dreams May Come, Twilight Zone) wrote this second Kolchak TV movie about the underground city that actually exists beneath present day Seattle! The Kolchak TV movies are still two of the MOST WATCHED TV movies of all time! Matheson has won Lifetime Achievement Awards from: World Fantasy Award, Bram Stoker Award, Edgar Allen Poe Award, The Hugo Award, Writer’s Guild Award, etc! Moonstone Books

I have Covers A and B so was really happy to get Cover C. If you've been reading this blog for a while you know what a huge Richard Matheson fan I am.

The Calling: Cthulhu Chronicles, #4

The first arc of the horrific Cthulhu series comes to an end, but the giant revelations in this issue expose an even bigger mystery that you won’t want to miss! What is the story behind The Dreamer and what part does he play in the strange events unfolding around the world? Don’t miss this new supernatural horror series with a decidedly modern spin from superstar writing team Michael Alan Nelson (28 Days Later, Hexed) and Johanna Stokes (Death Valley, Station)! Boom! Studios

Marvel Comics

X-23, #2

X-23 has never been a normal teenager, but with a demonic Wolverine on the loose, her dreams of becoming that normal teen seem less possible than ever. When the images this imposter Wolverine has been filling her head with become real, who can she turn to? And where is the real Wolverine in all of this? Find out as the series you've been waiting for continues! Marvel Comics

X-23, #2 Vampire Variant

The actual comics have different printing on them. These are the previews from the Marvel site. This month Marvel is publishing Vampire Variants for everything it seems. As much as I'd love to have them all, it's not going to happen.
