Interview with Tammy Falkner and Giveaway - January 16, 2014

Please welcome Tammy Falkner to The Qwillery. Tammy's most recent novel is The Magic Between Us (Faerie 3), which was published on January 7, 2014.

TQ:  Welcome back to The Qwillery.

Tammy:  Thanks so much for having me!

TQ:  You've written 3 Faerie novels and several other novels (so far). What is the most challenging thing for you about writing? Has your writing process changed over the years?

Tammy:  When I first started writing, I was writing as part of the Lydia Dare team with Ava Stone. We wrote five pages at a time, swapping the story after about a chapter. So, my process is definitely different writing solo! There’s no one waiting for me to send pages, so I tend to write much slower. Keeping a quick pace is a serious challenge for me, much more so than it used to be.

TQ:  What inspired you to write the Faerie series?

Tammy:  I had already written vampyres and Lycans in Regency England, and I started to think about all the other beings that might live and interact with the Ton. So, I thought of faeries. They fit, so I wrote it.

TQ:   Tell us something about The Magic Between Us (Faerie 3) that is not in the book description.

Tammy:  There are two interesting sub-romances in this book. One is Marcus’s human half-brother and a faerie. And the other is Ronald, the garden gnome. I had a lot of fun with these romances and enjoyed tying them into the series.

TQ:  Which character in the Faerie series so far has surprised you the most?

Tammy:  Honestly, it was Mayden. I don’t believe that people are born bad in many situations. There’s always some underlying pain, fear or other history that makes people who they are when they do things to cause other people harm. I went through all three books not knowing what Mayden’s history was. I only knew that he was bad. Then I dreamed that last scene in The Magic Between Us and finally figured out what made him tick. He surprised me more than anyone when I realized what he’d been through.

TQ:  If you could, would you travel to the land of the Fae? Why or why not?

Tammy:  Most definitely. I would travel anywhere! The fae world is Regency England with magic! Of course I would go there!

TQ:  In your opinion, does a Romance novel always have to have an HEA?

Tammy:  Yes, for me to enjoy it, it does. I need an underlying feeling of happiness or closure. I don’t want to read and hope for happiness and then there not be one.

TQ:   What's next?

Tammy:   Next up for me is another New Adult novel. It’s the fourth book in my Reed Brothers series and I’m really excited about it!

TQ:  Thank you for joining us at The Qwillery.

Tammy:   Thanks so much for having me!
