Carolyn: Hi Qwill! Thanks so much for inviting me here. Hey, are you looking forward to AAD as much as I am? It’s really coming up soon. Sort of.
Qwill: Yes I am. I can't wait to see everyone and visit one of my favorite cities! And now a few questions:
TQ: What inspired you to become a writer?
Carolyn: I was inspired to become a writer by reading, by being moved, emotionally, by books. And the excitement and delight and escape of reading. I just knew it was what I wanted to be involved in.
TQ: What is the most challenging thing for you about writing?
Carolyn: I read that question and a million things flit across my mind. I would say it’s how long everything takes. Every novel takes so long to write. When I’m finished with one, it can take forever to get into a reader’s hand, especially if I’m traditionally publishing it, but even my self pub stuff feels that way. Or, I’m waiting for my agent on this, or an editor on that. Or even myself! I recently redid my website, and what should’ve been an afternoon project took forever. I get really antsy about everything!
TQ: What writing achievement are you most proud of?
Carolyn: Oh, you are naughty! You are leading my bashful Midwestern self to be boasterly! But honestly, I’m proud of my Disillusionists trilogy - writing it, publishing it, having it in the world. It did not blow anyone away in terms of sales numbers (quite the reverse!!) however, I wouldn’t write one word different. I feel so proud of it, just artistically.
TQ: What one thing should everyone know about your writing?
Carolyn: I had great fun doing it…most days!
TQ: Please tell us about your latest and upcoming works.
Carolyn: I just put out a spin-off novella (which stands alone) called Devil’s Luck. It’s about my most reckless character. I also have two upcoming series: a paranormal spy romance, tentatively entitled MISTER REAL that takes place in rural Minnesota; it is a massively quirky project that I am in love with. It’s also a LOT hotter than the Disillusionists… a bit wild, in fact. lol.
My UF adventure series, DARK FOREST, is more of a traditional UF. It’s on the humorous and sexier side, and takes place in northern Wisconsin. Kind of a rural gothic book where even the deer heads on the walls of the rustic supper club look vaguely vampiric. Contains one of my favorite heroes I ever wrote.

I have a basic Sony I got free with points, a Kindle Touch I got basically for free using Staples Rewards and after a $20 rebate. I still prefer paper though e-readers can't be beat for taking on vacation.
