Authors After Dark Author Spotlight Interview - Eliza Gayle

Please welcome Eliza Gayle as part of The Qwillery's Authors After Dark Author Spotlight Interviews.

TQ:  What inspired you to become a writer?

Eliza:  I've been an avid reader for as long as I can remember and as a teenager I used to come home from the movies and write what I think should happen in a sequel to the movie I'd just watched. (I'd probably die laughing if I read any of those now. *g*) But I think the first moment I truly thought about writing a story for publication came when I discovered Ellora's Cave many years ago. I happened to click on their submissions link and reading those guidelines put the idea in my head that never quite went away. So I took a beginner's writing course and away I went.

TQ:  What is the most challenging thing for you about writing?

Eliza:  There are many challenges to being a writer. Thank goodness I hate to give up. I'd probably say self editing is the most challenging for me because it's so darn important and I'm a very slow editor of my own work. It would be nice to just write the story and be done with it but then the stories would never meet their potential.

TQ:  What writing achievement are you most proud of?

Eliza:  I'm pretty darned excited each and every time I hit the end. Finishing a story is an exhilarating experience after one heck of a roller coaster ride. As for writing achievements, anything that comes from a reader is what makes all the hard work worth it. I'd probably write no matter what but when an email or a reader voted award comes my way, it means the world to me.

TQ:  What one thing should everyone know about your writing?

Eliza:  I write the kind of books I like to read. Fast paced, sexy as hell and always with over protective alpha males.

TQ:  Please tell us about your latest and upcoming works.

Eliza:  After a bit of a binge on contemporary books, I'm now on a roll with paranormal stories. I've just had the pleasure of participating in the exclusive All Romance eBooks Perfect stranger series with a shifter story called Frost Bitten. It was fun to create something outside the normal shifters I write with a sassy jaguar shifter named Daisy.

Here's the blurb:

Resistance may be possible, but who are they kidding?

While on a search and rescue mission in the middle of a snowstorm, Seth and his twin Trent catch the scent of an unfamiliar shifter. Drawn to locate the source they hike deep into the woods to an abandoned cabin where they find an enticing little jaguar in the throes of heat.

Tired of being smothered by her five brothers and the pressure to mate, Daisy wanted nothing more than a week alone in the middle of freaking no where. The last thing she needed was a run in with two sexy as sin—and totally off limits—cougar shifters. Unfortunately, she's not the kind of woman to leave them out in the cold.

Faced with the misery of unmet sexual desire or hot, no strings attached sex with two men... What's a girl to do?

My next offering will be a re-release of a little known vampire story I did many years ago called Vampire Awakening. It's always been one of my favorite books and I can't wait to share it again.

After that it will be more shifters from the Black Cougar series. There's a lot going down in their area of the North Carolina mountains.

TQ:  Thank you for joining us at The Qwillery.

Eliza:  Thank you so much for having me, it has been my pleasure.

About Eliza

Eliza Gayle lives a life full of sexy shapeshifters, blood boiling vamps and a dark desire for bondage…until she steps away from her computer and has to tend to her family.

That education, a love of the metaphysical and a dirty mind comes in handy when she sits down to create new characters and worlds. The trick is getting her to sit still.
