Yet More Flowers From My Gardens and a Recipe

I'm up to my assets in screens, renders, and trailers from E3 along with news, news, news. Nonetheless I took some time over the last 3 days to make sure all is well in the gardens and to take a few pictures. I do grow more than Iris though they are the stars of the garden at the moment.

Oriental Poppies

Abraham Darby Roses

A View Looking Down the Iris Garden

I'm looking forward to spending much more time in my gardens next week. I still have not planted my herb garden. That is my weekend project. I usually plant Lemon Grass, Tarragon, Thyme, and Rosemary. I have Oregano, Garlic, Mint, Dill, and Chamomile already growing as they overwinter each year.

Qwill's Qwestion: Do you have an herb garden and/or do you have a favorite herb or spice? Share a recipe if you'd like.

Here is one of my and Small Human No. 1's favorites. It's why I grow the Lemon Grass: Thai Style Tilapia. (click the title to go to AllRecipes.com). It's easy and delicious. I triple the puree though since it's awesome over rice!

  1. Dude--that's some beautiful stuff! I love to garden. If only I had more time and it wasn't so hot here.

And no herb garden, but I want the aero garden. LOLLOL

  2. I just simply adore your phlogs (photo blogs LOL)! Such gorgeous flowers. I have a teeny back yard so I have a very small herb garden that has become overrun by pineapple mint. But I have chives, basil, and parsley. Smells so good in the summer.

It'd take me forever to decide what recipe to share, but I love to boil some baby red potatoes, toss them with a bit of butter, olive oil, salt, pepper, and fresh parsley. Yum-o to the extreme!

  3. Thank you, Dakota. Aero gardens are cool. I'd like one for the winter.

  4. I love your recipe! My Mom used to make Parslied Potatoes like that. The only problem was when she made them during the winter. She kept the house so cold that the butter would congeal by the time she got the potatoes to the dinner table! True story. (We wore a lot of sweaters in the winter.)

  5. Wow just love all the flower pics! I'd like to start a herb garden in some pots since I don't actually have a garden, but need to figure out a way for them to get sun lol.

  6. I am SO not a gardener. Brown thumb - or just brain dead I dunno. I tend to forget to do stuff like water them and pull weeds. LOL I love the pictures though :)

  7. Wow, those are gorgeous flowers, but I also have to say they're beautifully photographed! Either you're good with a camera or your flowers are particularly photogenic.

Mostly I seem to be able to grow A) African violets and B) a cactus, which is getting alarmingly large.

  8. Hi, AK. Thank you. You could set up a grow light for the plants!

  9. Thank you, yada...! :) Gardens do take a lot of work. So far this season it's been raining just the righ amount! But I need to spend some time weeding everyday.

  10. TG - the flowers are just very photogenic. ;)

I love both African Violets and Cactus. My small humans and I are going to grow cactus from seed!
